my warmest sleevless winter jacket as well as a pair of my favorite shoes- bcbg's mendel boots.  both of these purchases were my holiday gifts to myself, and i swear that they are the gifts that keep on giving, as i have got tons of use from each of them.  although andrew from ballcaps and neckties and i spent the chilly day walking around the city finding places to take pictures, this coat kept me super warm and comfy, and the platform on the shoes make them tres wearable.  the little metal kick in the back gives me lots of stability, as i am one to try to rock back on my high heels when i am standing around as well as run places when i get too cold (which is often). i love the texture of the coat and shoes over the all black outfit. for a little while, i blamed my poor dog for all of my black being covered in little hairs until i realized it was my coat that was doing all of the damage (and i love the coat too much to get mad at IT).  oddly enough, everything else in my life is filled with color, my wardrobe being the only exclusion......

cat part deux

more fun times at the alley cat with ballcaps and neckties andrew- this is actually the second set of the last post- we had too many good opportunities to take pictures from this place to just limit ourselves to one posting.  still wearing my favorite sweater- make fun of me if you will, but i love the versatility of the hood/ neck element.  and in a bar like this, you need layers because it tends to be a little....drafty.  also wearing my bebe boots, which either make my feet look abnormally huge or maybe it is just the camera angle on that second to last shot, but in either case, i am going to stick with them.  congratulations to my talented photographer ben for the lighting in these pictures- it couldn't have turned out better.  have to love a bar where every square inch is covered in graffiti, and the cleanest place to sit is on the pool table....

alley cats

more fun times with ballcaps and neckties andrew.......at this point, it seems that all we like to do is enthusiastically hang out in grungy alleys, but that is not the case at all.  we sometimes hang out in equally fabulous grungy alley bars, like the alley cat, which is where we were headed for these pictures.  sure getting sick of winter, but i was glad that i was able to use my extra large collar (or is it more appropriately called a turtleneck? or is it just a neck?...still have yet to figure it out) as a functioning hood.  and even though it is the middle of winter, i had to wear my most favorite open toe shoes, which did nothing to stop my ankles from enjoying the breeze that seeped in through the zips on my pants.  somehow the walk was worth it.....gotta love the lounge.

skulls and snakes

 

my obsession with snakes and skulls continues, and somehow i inadvertently combined about three of my faves in this outfit.  i'm still torn if i am in love with the matte nailpolish (i have owned it in the glossy version for a while and wear it year round)- to me it almost looks like i dipped my nails in wall paint, but i could possibly be doing it wrong.  or possibly applying it as i am running out the door, which is why i end up looking like i used a 2 year old child as a manicurist.  i decided to wear my favorite boots again, which stand up surprisingly well to the slush/snow/salt/puddles that populate the area as well as carry my new favorite lucite clutch. all that aside, busy weekend where i was successfully able to avoid more football, dance party until 5am, and still fit in a completely productive work schedule.  also had time to hit up the town with my friend andrew with ballcaps and neckties to squeeze in some photos.....success!!

weekend warrior

 my favorite weekend outfit on yet another typical cold, gray january day.  i have what appears to be an extreme sensitivity to cold, and yet if i get too hot you can pretty much guarantee you will hear me complain as well, so when i have a day off work i tend to throw on as many tops that will keep me warm and deconstruct from there.  i guess it doesn't help that my leggings are ventilated and only serve the purpose of enhancing my outfit rather than keeping me warm.  piles of shirts, piles of rings, a big cozy hat, my favorite shoes, and a purse big enough to fit anything i may accumulate during the day makes for the best weekend wardrobe.  another collaboration with andrew from ballcaps and neckties and his talented photographer friend ben means that the weekend will be anything but boring.....

remix 2010

 starting 2010 off with new ideas and collaborations: working with andrew of ballcaps and neckties and the results have been worth the wait.  it is awesome to work with another blogger who shares similar ideas, and also helped me find some of the best locations around for pictures. despite the freezing cold, we braved the outdoors long enough to shoot this set at one of my frequented weekend spots...note to self, do not wear purple lipstick over already frozen purple lips, the results leave something to be desired.  beginning the new year with my all time favorite scarf again, showing that it can be just as versatile for the winter as it is during the summer (whatever it takes to convince myself that it was a "must have" purchase).  also had fun editing my usually huge luggage sized purses down to the bare essentials to fit in my lucite bcbg clutch.  with all my belongings on display, i have to keep it minimalistic.  andrew is wearing a hardwood classics by the franchise pacers hat, h&m scarf, burberry tie, brooks brothers shirt, and a zegna blazer.

pony tales

thanksgiving day, posted slighty belatedly....in my quest to find a photographer, i recruited my talented aunt, who not only was gracious enough to volunteer her crew of fabulous animals as a backdrop, but also took some great pictures.  it is finally getting cold and while i am not a fan of anything below 75 degrees, i have a yearly internal struggle about the seasons changing because i do love fall and winter fashion (including- but not limited to- boots, layers, jackets, fur and anything sparkly). while i am usually not without a 6 inch heel- minimum- i love love love these bronze dr martens- thanks for the b day gift con and jon! my boot collection has also seemed to have grown exponentially these past few months and i will need literally an entire month of postings to show off my collection.  and i think i am ok with that.....

squish dog

so i realize that i have been completely negligent about posting, but in my defense, this is the first time in the past few weeks that i have been accessorizing with anything other than a hospital-issue regulation facemask, since i have been battling the flu (not swine!) for the past week and half.  during this time, my camera also died, which made it tres difficult to take a picture during the daylight because it had to charge for no less than 2 hours before it was able to work, so please accept these darkened shots as a pre halloween post.   or something.  and i swear i don't abuse or stomp on my dog, he has the tendancy to act abused and guilty if you give him any command ("sit, louis!" turns into "bad dog louis you need to lay down and slink away before i beat you!" in his head).  he does act happy most of the time, especially when you are feeding him.....which i do, on a regular basis- i'm nice, i swear!!  today my trip out into civilization was a huge success, as i found two awesome pairs of shoes: bronze doc martins (genius!) and another pair of skanky sky high bebe heels (weird, i know, right?).  also solidified my halloween costume- pictures will be coming soon.  i promise to be more diligent about my posting, and will try and refrain from strange punctuation that i seem to be all about today. blame it on the swine.....

footwear fetish

please excuse the lack of posts lately- not for lack of outfits, that is for sure....more for lack of photographers. my obsession for large obscenely high heels continues, and i have been lusting over these particular footwear items for quite some time now.  the first two are charles anastase- its a little hard to see from the front view, but the heels/ platforms on these are no less than 12 inches tall....it makes me want to test them out asap. the next two are alexander mcqueen, from his spring 2010 collection.......completely unwearable, but i want to own each pair simply because the silhouette on each is amazing and completely new.  the last pair is bcbg- in stores now, but slightly out of my budget still.  i have at least 5 outfits that i have mentally paired them with, and as soon as i stumble on to a pot of gold or a magical money tree, i will own them.  along with at least one of the anastase pairs. for now, i will stick with setting them as my computer wallpaper and carrying a little picture ripped from elle uk with me....

paint it black

coffee with the hoebag at her apartment.  our complete lack of motivation to venture out into the rainy humid outdoors the past week has kept us inside, so we decided to go ahead and take some pictures right there.  we were worried that i would blend too much into her all black furniture, but decided that it wouldn't be a complete crime, since we both love black anything. i am wearing my new favorite nail polish, mac's jealousy, which is a deep nearly black forest green.  i didn't think that i would be so eager to jump on the green bandwagon, but the fact that it almost has more blue in it has made me a convert.  the only issue i have had so far is when i go to remove it for touch ups, somehow i end up with a mossy shade of green coating my hands and nails.  this pretty much guarantees that i will be wearing it all season because i can't apparently take it off enough as to where i can switch colors.  tricky, tricky.  have been rediscovering american apparel online again- after a brief fling in college where i discovered everything was affordable and completely cute, i havent shopped there in forever and this dress makes me wonder why.  i am still waiting with great anticipation for all saints to open their much-rumored about us website, but am happy to be saving my pennies until then.
